Released in mid 2009, Gmail Notifier is a small email client dedicated for Gmail users only, that can track up to five accounts simultaneously. It is a time saving application that will release you from the need to manually check for emails. Features included are full email preview, email deletion and mark as read, and it is localized to 12 languages. Also, the application can launch the Gmail login page if needed. Connectivity to Gmail is done using IMAP over SSL using Chilkat library. Recommended.
