Apple has recently acknowledged that its new iPhone 4 is riddled with flaws. The biggest complaint users note is the phone’s antenna issues. Apparently, when the phone is held a certain way, signal strength can drop significantly as a result of finger-contact with the phone’s outer band. In fact, in some cases users have experienced signal strength drops from 5 bars down to 1. The problem seems to mostly affect left handed users. According to Apple, the metal band that surrounds the outer perimeter of the phone, is affected by fingers which alters the phones reception capabilities.
At first, Apple refused to acknowledge that reception was an issue; in fact Steve Jobs told users just to hold the phone differently and they would be fine. However, they recently they have released a ‘bumper case’ which covers the outer band, which seems to have fixed any reception issues. (continue reading…)
